Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is the gateway to the whole Christian life, the infusion to life in the Spirit, and the door which gives access to the other sacraments. Through Baptism we are freed from sin and reborn as adopted sons and daughters of God; we become members of Christ’s Body, are incorporated into the Church and made sharers in Christ’s mission: Baptism is the sacrament of regeneration through water in the Spirit.
At Holy Family Parish, the Sacrament of Baptism is administered on the third Sunday of the month after the 11:00 A.M. If you are a parent looking to have your child baptized, attendance to the Pre-Jordan class is required. If you are an adult seeking baptism, attendance in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is required.
Marriage
Through the Sacrament of Matrimony, husband and wife are joined together in an unbreakable bond of love for mutual support and family life. Marriage signifies the union of Christ and the Church. It gives spouses the grace to love each other with the love with which Christ has loved His Church; the grace of the sacrament perfects the human love of the spouses, strengthens their indissoluble unity, and sanctifies them on the way to eternal life.
At Holy Family Parish, marriages are arranged by request. Attendance to the Pre-Cana class is required.
Confirmation
Through the Sacrament of Confirmation, we complete the Sacraments of initiation by the special gift of the Holy Spirit. Confirmation brings an increase and deepening of baptismal grace and we are more firmly united to Jesus Christ Himself. We are given a special strength of the Holy Spirit to spread and defend the faith by word and action as true witnesses of Christ, to confess the name of Christ boldly, and never to be ashamed of the Cross.
If you are a parent whose child has yet to receive their sacraments, they should be enrolled in the PREP program with the parish. If you are an adult seeking to receive your sacraments, attendance in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is required.
Eucharist
The Sacrament of Holy Eucharist is an essential part of the Christian lifestyle, through which we receive the Body and Blood of Christ in a Sacramental form. The Eucharist is “the source and summit of the Christian life.” The other sacraments are joined with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself.
If you are a parent whose child has yet to receive their sacraments, they should be enrolled in the PREP program with the parish. If you are an adult seeking to receive your sacraments, attendance in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is required.
Anointing of the Sick
This Sacrament of Healing is for those who are seriously ill or near death. By the grace of this Sacrament, the sick person receives the strength and the gift of uniting themself more closely to Christ’s Passion. The Church urges those who receive this Sacrament to contribute to the good of the People of God by freely uniting themselves to the Passion and death of Christ.
This Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick is made available upon request. Holy Communion can also be made available to the sick or homebound by way of home visit. These visits can be scheduled by calling the rectory at (215) 482-0450 or by seeing a priest on Sunday before entering a hospital for serious surgery.
Confession
Those who approach the Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation receive God’s mercy for the offense committed against Him, and are, at the same time, reconciled with the Church which they have wounded by their sins and which by charity, by example, and by prayer labors for their conversion. Through the ministry of the priest, God grants pardon and peace. Those who live by God’s merciful love are ready to respond to the Lord’s call.
Confessions are held every Saturday and Sunday at Holy Family Parish, or anytime by appointment.
Funeral Information
The Mass of Christian burial is the traditional way in which we pay our respects to the deceased and it is an honor the Church bestows on all baptized Catholics so they know that they are not alone and that God is by their side.
